  • Peer influence to attempt maneuvers beyond current ability level

2. Release of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Activities, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, and assigns, hereby fully and irrevocably release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the following parties (the "Released Parties"):
  • Project Rad Skateboarding and its directors, officers, administrators, and members
  • All coaches, instructors, camp counsellors, and event staff
  • Volunteers and officials assisting with any Activity
  • Sponsors, partners, donors, and supporting organizations
  • Owners, operators, and managers of any venue or property used for the Activities

This Release applies to any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action for personal injury, death, property damage, or economic loss, including legal costs and disbursements, whether known or unknown at the time of signing, arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Activities. This Release applies to claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties, but does not apply to claims arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct.

3. Indemnity Agreement

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, costs, expenses, damages, judgments, and legal fees arising out of or connected with my participation (or my child's participation) in the Activities, including claims brought by third parties such as parents, guardians, insurers, estate trustees, or medical providers.

4. Activity-Specific Acknowledgements

Lessons

I understand that skateboarding lessons involve physical progression and that Project Rad coaches will provide instruction, demonstrations, and spotting as they deem appropriate. I accept that skill development carries inherent risk of falls and injury. I acknowledge that coaches are not liable for injuries arising from a participant's decision to attempt a maneuver regardless of coach instruction.

Camps

I understand that day skateboarding camps involve sustained physical activity in a group environment with participants of mixed ages and abilities. I acknowledge that full-time supervision is not guaranteed during all non-skating periods. I accept that Project Rad Skateboarding is not responsible for injuries arising from normal camp activities, interaction between participants, or participant conduct outside of supervised skate sessions.

Events, Jams & Competitions

I understand that skateboarding events and competitions involve skating alongside other participants of unknown skill levels in a high-energy public environment. I acknowledge that competitive contexts may involve elevated risk-taking by participants beyond normal training. I accept that Project Rad Skateboarding is not responsible for injuries arising from venue conditions, other participants' conduct, or crowd interactions at public events. I agree that placement, judging outcomes, and event schedule changes are at the sole discretion of organizers.

5. Rules & Safety Compliance

I agree to:
  • Follow all posted rules and the verbal instructions of Project Rad staff, coaches, and volunteers at all times
  • Wear all required protective equipment including a properly fitted helmet at all times while skating, as well as knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards as required for the Activity
  • Immediately report any injury, illness, or unsafe condition to a staff member or coach
  • Refrain from participating while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any impairing substance
  • Conduct myself (or ensure my child conducts themselves) in a respectful manner toward all participants, coaches, and staff
Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the Activity without refund, at the sole discretion of Project Rad Skateboarding staff.

6. Equipment

Project Rad Skateboarding may provide loaner skateboards and protective equipment. I accept full responsibility for any loss or damage to borrowed equipment caused by negligent or intentional misuse. I agree to use all equipment only as intended and under the supervision or direction of Program staff.

7. Emergency Medical Authorization

In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize Project Rad Skateboarding staff, coaches, and volunteers to:
  • Provide or arrange basic first aid
  • Contact emergency medical services (911) on my (or my child's) behalf
  • Consent to emergency medical treatment if I (or a parent/guardian) cannot be reached promptly
I am solely responsible for all medical costs, ambulance fees, and related expenses. I confirm that the participant is fit to participate and I am not aware of any medical condition that would make participation inadvisable without prior medical clearance.

8. Media & Promotional Consent

I grant Project Rad Skateboarding and its authorized partners permission to photograph, record video, and capture audio of me (or my child) during the Activities for promotional, educational, social media, and fundraising purposes, without compensation.

9. Minors (Under 18 Years of Age)

If the participant is under 18, this Agreement must be signed by a parent or legal guardian, who confirms that: they are the legal guardian of the named participant; they have read and explained this Agreement and its risks to the participant; the participant voluntarily accepts these risks; and they consent to emergency medical treatment as described in Section 7.
