Project Rad is Pumped for the 124 Parking Lot Jam
If you’ve been keeping up with the Edmonton skateboarding community, you already know something special is coming. The 124 Parking Lot Jam is back — and we at Project Rad Skateboarding couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it.
What Is the 124 Parking Lot Jam?
The intersection of 108 Ave & 124 Street gets taken over for one of Edmonton’s most beloved annual skate traditions. This is a free, four-hour street jam put on by the Edmonton Skateboarding Association in tribute to Local 124 Skate Shop — and it’s exactly the kind of Edmonton skateboard event that reminds us why this city’s skate culture is something truly special.
Four obstacles. Four hours. All ages. No cost. Pure fun.
Here’s what’s going down on the day:
- Keg Jump — clear the kegs, claim your glory (thanks to Bentstick Brewing)
- Curb Jam — classic street skating, no frills, all style
- Pole Jam — send it and see what you’ve got
- Spine Sesh — courtesy of Foam Fighters, who are donating their ramps for the day
Plus a DJ keeping the energy dialed all afternoon. An incredible lineup of sponsors is throwing in prizes! You show up, you skate — you might leave with some serious new gear.
Why This Matters to the Edmonton Skate Scene
Events like the 124 Parking Lot Jam are the heartbeat of skateboarding in Edmonton. They bring together skaters of every age and skill level and remind everyone that at the end of the day, this is a community built on showing up, having fun, and hyping each other up.
The Edmonton skate scene has always had that energy — deep roots, real passion, and a crew of people who genuinely care about keeping the culture alive. Local 124 has been instrumental in building and maintaining that tradition for years, and this jam is a tribute to everything they’ve done for this city.
Project Rad’s Role — And Why We’re So Stoked
We’re proud to share that Project Rad Skateboarding is sponsoring the event insurance for the 124 Parking Lot Jam — which means we’re helping make it possible for this thing to happen safely on the street. Being trusted with that role means a lot to us, and it reflects the kind of partnership we want to have with the broader Edmonton skateboarding community.
But beyond the logistics, what really has us fired up is the opportunity for our riders. Getting young skaters out to Edmonton skate events like this is a massive part of youth development in the sport. No lessons replicate the feeling of skating in front of your community, trying something new, and the entire Edmonton skate scene cheering.
For a kid who’s been taking lessons and learning the basics, showing up to a jam like this and seeing what the Edmonton skate scene is all about — the creativity, the style, the energy — is genuinely life-changing.
Come Out and Be Part of It
The 124 Parking Lot Jam is free, all ages, and open to everyone. Whether you’ve been skating for 20 years or your kid just got their first board, come out to 108 Ave & 124 Street on May 30th and be part of it.
All participants need to sign a waiver and check in at the start of the event. Skaters under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign them in, so arrive a few minutes early to get sorted.
Come say hi to the Project Rad crew, cheer on the riders, and celebrate what makes Edmonton skateboarding so great.
